The JAM Pedals Rattler MK.2 is inspired by the legendary ProCo RAT®. The idea is to offer a modified version of it, offering more dynamics and nuances than the original version. Fans of thick and organic distortion, the Rattler is made for you!
After the success of the original version, JAM returns with this MK.2 which gains in versatility.

Externally, it is a JAM Pedals, it benefits from a hand-painted finish. Each pedal will therefore be slightly different from one copy to another. The controls are very simple and intuitive: a Level knob for the output level, a Tone to adjust the EQ and a Gain to adjust the distortion level.
The MK.2 version brings a mini canvas switch that allows to use a symmetrical clipping (original RAT mod) or asymmetrical (Rattle mod, more open, less compression). Also, a Mid Boost has been added. This allows to pass through the mix during solos and to gain in gain range. The low frequencies and the level of it can be adjusted by opening the pedal.

Inside, we have a quality PCB that only confirms the great care that our Greek friends bring to the manufacture of these pretty colorful pedals. On this PCB, we find a new OPA custom designed by JAM Pedals. Adios, the LM308. We also find resistors of type carbon comp. Enough to recreate the magic of the original circuit with a few well-seen improvements.

We stack the pedal on a clean channel with a small Les Paul in our hands with everything at 12:00. First difference, it doesn't buzz and blow like most RATs on the market and it's very very fat, dense and fluid. The Rattler delivers greater harmonic richness, especially in the high end of the spectrum which sounds more natural and less over-compressed. We finally have frequencies above 5000k! Also, we benefit from a wider dynamic range
with a much more open and punchy medium. It's rich, creamy. By pushing the Gain we get lead sounds with grain, binding and a massive side that makes the pedal extremely easy to play. Finally, we appreciate the addition of a real quality True-Bypass and the great efficiency of the Tone pot. The Mid-Boost allows the Rattler MK.2 to make it a superb pedal for soloists. It's fluid, with sustain and especially good frequencies.

The JAM Pedals Rattler MK.2 is a very enjoyable and highly addictive distortion. It sounds great, it's fun and it's affordable. It ticks all the boxes, it's beautiful!
